2025
EasyMining has continued to strengthen its position as a leader in circular resource recovery in 2025, achieving to advance the transition towards a more sustainable and resilient nutrient supply in Europe. Over the past year, we have secured funding for our approach towards circular potassium recovery. We progressed regulatory approval of our RevoCaP recycled phosphorus product in Canada and celebrated the EU's approval of recycled calcium phosphate for use in organic farming. At the same time, Sweden has called for EU action to unlock the use of recycled phosphorus in animal feed, highlighting the growing recognition of recycled nutrients as a strategic resource for Europe's food security and green transition.
On the commercial side, EasyMining has taken major steps towards industrial-scale implementation of its Ash2Phos technology. Construction has begun on the world's first full-scale phosphorus recovery plant in Schkopau, Germany, following land lease agreements and financial support from the state of Saxony-Anhalt. In May we held the groundbreaking ceremony at the construction site. Together, these achievements demonstrate strong momentum for bringing circular phosphorus recovery from innovation to commercial reality.
2024
This year marked several major milestones for EasyMining. We received the green light to build the world’s first Ash2Phos plant in Schkopau, Germany, and signed our first contract for the delivery of sewage sludge ash to the facility.
In collaboration with Aarhus University and DLG, we launched a study to explore the benefits of recycled phosphate in newly weaned pigs. We also concluded the Sahara Project, successfully demonstrating an add-on process to Ash2Phos that maximises the recovery of phosphorus, iron coagulants, and silicate sand.
Engagement in global discussions remained a priority, with our active participation in COP29 in Baku, where we hosted two sessions at the UN climate conference. We also made our mark at key industry events, including AquaTech, IWA, IFAT, and ESPC5.
As EasyMining continues to grow, we now proudly count 61 employees working to drive circular solutions forward.
2023
In the beginning of 2023 we successfully conclude the EU LIFE RE-Fertilize project and begin laying the groundwork for the commercialisation of our Aqua2N process. In April, the world's first large-scale Ash2Salt plant is inaugurated just outside Stockholm. Through a risk assessment, we affirm the negligible pathogen risk in our recycled phosphate product. Together with the design studio Form Us With Love, we start to explore the application possibilities of the sand produced as a co-product from the Ash2Phos process.
In Germany, we partner with MSE and Gelsenwasser to spearhead phosphorus recovery from sewage sludge, and in Canada, we collaborate with the Frisen Group to develop a premium feed product market. Throughout the year, we actively engage in various events and conferences, including AquaTech and COP28, and we win the Great Engineering Prize in Innovation in Sweden. We also receive court approval for the construction of the Ash2Phos plant in Sweden.
2022
In 2022, we inaugurate the Aqua2N demonstration plant at BIOFOS in Denmark and make our first deliveries of recycled nitrogen fertiliser to farms in Sweden and Denmark. We start pilot runs for producing sample products from Ash2Phos and apply to get RevoCaP approved for organic farming in the EU. We also launch a new initiative to foster the recovery of clean phosphorus in Germany. At the end of the year, we host several seminars at the UN climate conference (COP27), and we are also one of 10 finalists for the world's largest environmental award, the Food Planet Prize.
2021
We start a new project to test recovered phosphorus as feed phosphate, with positive results. We sign an agreement with Alfa Laval and Hitachi Zosen Inova, and we participate in several talks, including the UN climate summit, on the subject of circularity. In the end of 2021 we celebrated the grand opening of the demonstration plant for our nitrogen removal and recovery process, and we announced joint venture to build the world’s first phosphorus recovery plant based on the Ash2Phos technology.
